5 Home Remedies for Dark Spots

The minute we start to notice spots on our face, our eyes widen in alarm and we start to panic. A quick dash to the store to get spot removal cleansers & creams, foundation, concealer and corrector. Granted there are countless store-bought products that can help get rid of spots but the verified ones are outrageously expensive and would probably end up lightening your whole face.

The good news is there are household items that can help you get rid of spots slowly and safely without bleeding your pocket.

 Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a great remedy for sunburns, burns and spots. Peel fresh aloe vera and apply the gel all over your face. Let it sit for a couple of minutes then rinse off.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV)

ACV has many uses for the skin and hair.  Use ACV the same way you’d use a facial cleanser or simply apply with a cotton ball to the affected area and let it sit for a while.

Red Onion juice

Red onion juice can serve as a natural bleaching agent that would slowly fade the spots away. Simply juice the onions and apply on your face or grate the onions, wrap it in a soft cloth (like a handkerchief) and squeeze till all the juice comes out. Allow the juice sit for about ten minutes before rinsing off.

You might be a little uncomfortable with this home remedy because of the pungent smell of onions. But if you are really keen on getting rid of your spots, it’s a smell you’d have to tolerate for a couple of weeks.

Sugar has a high level of glycolic acid which helps exfoliate blemishes and get rid of dark spots. Simply rub the sugar on the desired area and leave it for a few minutes.

Tomato juice

Blend a moderate amount of tomatoes and add some lemon juice to the mix. You either drink the juice or use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to the affected areas of your body.

With dedication and consistence, any of these remedies would get rid of the spots on your face.
