Culturally we are not taught to speak positive affirmations, especially not about ourselves. It is rare for an African woman to go about saying how fabulous she is – if you had that tendency, your mum probably beat it out of you or something. So we understand how difficult it might be to consciously say positive words to yourself, however if you want to reach your goals and dreams in life, you need to reach deep inside yourself for inspiration and encouragement and affirmations are a great way to do that. These positive affirmations for African women will help you get over your natural inhibitions 🙂
What are affirmations?
Affirmations are words that you speak and internalise in order to motivate and inspire you to reach your desired goal. They are positive and keep you fired up even when you are tempted to give up.
How to use affirmations
The best time is early in the morning or late at night – when you have very little distraction. Pick one affirmation at a time (one per day or per week) and think of your goals and dreams. Concentrate and mean it when you say it aloud with your whole heart.
Affirmations you can use:
We’re listing some here, but you can always create your own affirmations. Make sure that they are clear, simple and positively worded. So here we go…
I love and accept the woman I am
I am worthy of love and respect
I am not focusing on the negative stuff around me
My life has meaning and purpose
I am reaching daily for my goals
I free myself from fear and bitterness
I forgive myself for my mistakes in life
I forgive those who have hurt me
I release myself from fear
I have courage
I have strength and resilience
I rise above the limitations in my life
I have confidence today
My life is taking the shape I want
I am finding fulfillment in my life
I meet all challenges with wisdom and resourcefulness
I have grown from my experiences
I am more than just a body. I have a spirit and a soul
