So lately I’ve been thinking a lot about casseroles. They’re not exactly what you would find on the menu of a typical Nigerian family. Seriously, who even thinks about making a casserole dish, right? But if you have an oven and you have a nice oven-safe dish, this is something you really should think about. Giving your family something different might be worth the experiment. Notice I said might? Because it really depends on the family you have.
So what are casseroles exactly?
Hehe, funny you asked. Basically, a casserole is a kind of stew or dish that has been cooked slowly in an oven. I like this definition I found in TheKitchnn.com:

It is a meal that you can prepare for dinner or during the weekend. Imagine chicken placed in sauce and put in the oven so that all the deliciousness goes into the chicken while it bakes. Yeah…it is a very appealing picture.
How to make casseroles
This is very interesting because if you Google ‘how to make casseroles’, you will probably come up with 15 different answers. But one thing that you will eventually notice is that making a casserole is usually based on personal choice. So your casserole can be simple or complicated (if you’re trying this for the first time, I advocate simple). It could also be really rich in calories or extremely economical…like I’ve already said, it depends on your choice.

Right.

If you are a fan of seafood like I am, you are going to love this recipe. Come to think of it, I just might try this one out, maybe even before the sweet potato casserole. For a breakfast option, the baked oatmeal casserole is a yummy dish you can try. It’s healthy, it’s yummy and it will boost your energy. I think this is a really great way to start the day, particularly with the fruits, which you can swap for what you have, by the way.
