How do you show your style and personality in a generic business suit? For the style conscious man, this answer to this is coloured socks.

Coloured socks for men might be a thing, but it’s not new. This trend has been around for some time now. Although the Wall Street Joural called it ‘yeseterday’s trend, 2016 witnessed the rise of the coloured socks, thanks to Canada Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

But this is not about PMJT, this is about showing your style savvy side with a pair of bold patterned coloured socks. This is not about being non-conformist, it’s about indulging your sense of style and personality. As Yo Sox Co-founder, Ryan Cohen said in a HuffPost article,

“As someone who is passionate about aesthetics, I’ve always looked at socks as an outlet for creativity and self-expression. Rather than dwelling on stigmas or labelling fashion trends, the Yo Sox mantra is all about non-conformity.”

You don’t have to be passionate about fashion. And you don’t need to be a style icon either. A pair of unconventional bold patterned socks can help you feel more confident and it is a step in the more stylish direction. Oh, you don’t care about being stylish? Well, a Harvard study found that wearing coloured socks is a sign of success.

Owning a BMW or flying first class is no longer enough to show your status, you need to flaunt your boldly patterned socks. For those that need to ‘fake it till you make it’, this provides a more affordable option. If your budget does not extend to Gucci shoes and Armani suits, at least you can splurge on socks, right? Exactly.

Next time you need to put on a boring suit for that Board meeting, take a walk on the wild side and step out in socks with bold and colourful patterns.

We'd love to hear from you
