We love Yemi Alade’s looks usually and have been known to crush on some of her outfits. However, we are still trying to make up our minds about her choice for the MTV African Music Awards 2016, which she co-hosted with Bonang Matheba and Nomzamo Mbatha.
Judging by her Instagram page, she wore a total of five outfits and while we absolutely loved some, we can’t say the same about some others. Here’s our opinion of the outfits worn by the beautiful Yemi Alade for the MAMA 2016.
Yemi Alade’s Looks
The hair is gorgeous. The accessories slay! The dress is actually quite lovely, but we think Yemi Alade played it safe here…a little too safe to be honest.
This Star Wars inspired outfit is brilliant. This is more what we have come to expect of this diva. She took a risk and stepped out on a limb. The detail on the belt and the peeping corset give it an added touch. Not our favourite Yemi Alade look, but it works.
Now this is the mother lode. The cut, the animal print, the peekaboo slits and Yemi Alade’s flawless skin all combine to create an outfit that totally nailed it!
This one…hmmm…the judges are still out with this. We love the play with colour and the textures, but the tassels? Totally not working for us. Yemi has a keen sense of style and the ability to carry off outfits that most people cannot. So she did give this outfit some elegance. However, we must say that it is not one of her best glam looks.
This fuchsia gown just makes us cringe. And really, who can blame us? Yemi Alade set the bar with her BET Awards gown…that was just spectacular. Now we expect nothing less from her and this celebration of fuchsia is less. And that head thingy…? We reserve our comments. As always she is still looking beautiful.
The beautiful singer won the best female Artiste of the Year and we are really proud of her. We were not totally thrilled by her outfit choices, but somehow, with her usual joie de vivre, Yemi Alade pulled them off.
This is our opinion on Yemi Alade’s looks for the MAMA 2016. What do you think about these outfits? Do they work or are the judges still out?
