Halima Aden is Ethereal in Her First Ever Campaign

Halima Aden is a Somali-American model who won the heart of the fashion world. She just got her first international campaign and the pictures are ethereal. The campaign is for online fashion line, The Modist, a luxury clothing company, which stocks modest clothing, including hijabis.
Halima Aden and the making of history
Halima first came into the limelight when she contested and was a runner up at the Miss Minnesota USA Beauty Pageant, clothed in her hijab. Her beauty was impossible to hide and she made history when she appeared during the swimsuit session in her burkini.
At a time when the narrative around diversity is gaining greater exposure and deeper meaning, Halima Aden is a shining example of how it all fits together.
Coming from a refugee camp…
The 19 year old model was born in a refugee camp in Kenya when her parents were fleeing the violence in Somalia. They later relocated to the Minnesota where she became a US citizen.
She walked the runway at the New York Fashion Week, in her hijab, and looked absolutely stunning.
On an Instagram post, she stressed the importance of being authentic and true to oneself. If there is anything that comes through about Halima, it is her authenticity.
First Hijab model at IMG
Although she’s not the first muslim model to be represented by the presitgious IMG modeling agency, she is the first hijabi model the agency has signed on. That is history.
She was also a judge at the just concluded Miss USA pageant.
