I am going to lose 3 kg a month for the next 4 months.
Now, that is a goal. To make it achievable, you can go ahead and state what you intend to do to make it happen. e.g.
- Take brisk 30 minute walks 3 mornings a week
- Substitute one meal a day with vegetables and fruits
- Take breakfast every morning
- Cut out soft drinks (soda) and pastries
When you make a definite statement and back it with a timeline, then break it into small achievable steps, you are in fact, setting a goal.

It is not enough to set goals if they are set arbitrarily. You should understand what is important to you and why you need to achieve what you are after. The best way to do this is to prioritize. Ask yourself…what is important to you?

Self knowledge is a very important part in setting goals that are attainable. Know thyself. Is this goal something you honestly believe you can achieve? Is it something that will add value to your life or are you just making a goal to live out someone else’s dream? Understand the sort of person you are and what works for you. Spend time in honest evaluation.
