The minister was a recipient of the Forbes Magazine Best of Africa Award In Leadership, which was conferred on her in New York, United States of America, by the Vice Chairman of Forbes Media LLC in New York, Mr. Christopher Kip Forbes.
In her speech during the conferment, Mrs. Diezani said she was dedicating the award to all women across the globe and in particular to Nigerian women, adding that the award would spur her to be more dedicated to the on-going reforms in the petroleum industry.
She also commeded President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for appointing several women into leadership positions, emphasizing how the President’s action has empowered many women in Nigeria.
It is always exciting whenever the achievements of a woman are noticed and lauded and for Mrs. Alision-Madueke, who has blazed a path for women all over Nigeria and in Africa, we are especially proud. Some of the best performing ministers in the Federal Government are women and we appreciate President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for being conscious of the need for greater female representation in government and for being proactive about that need.
Congratulations to Mrs. Alis0n-Madueke!
