The festive season is officially here. It’s time to put on those Christmas socks and Christmas jumpers that have been gathering dust at the bottom of your wardrobe. Here are some fashion ideas for embracing the festive cheer.

Xmas jumpers

Now is the time to bring out those ugly knitted jumpers. The wackier the better – you may as well go all out when wearing these jumpers. There are Christmas jumpers out there with lights, ones that play music and ones with knitted reindeer noses and Santa bellies for those brave enough. Of course, for a truly unique jumper, the best course of action is to knit one yourself.

Christmas is the perfect time for all kinds of knitwear. Think beyond hats and scarves and embrace knitted accessories such as knitted bags and purses. You can even consider knitted phone cases. If you can’t knit yourself and don’t have the patience to learn, there are lots of companies out there selling bespoke knitted items that could be perfect for Christmas either as a gift or a personal treat.

Jovial jewellery

You can also get into the festive spirit by choosing the right jewellery. Greens and reds are great colours for this time of year, so look for items in your jewellery box with green and red stones. White jewellery such as pearls is also great for adding that wintry feel.

You can also try a few Christmas pendants – these could be on a necklace or hanging from earrings. You can get pendants shaped like all kinds of Christmas objects such as baubles, snowflakes, candy canes, Christmas trees and stockings.

Noel-themed nightwear

Got any Christmas pyjamas? Or perhaps a Christmas onesie? Now could be the perfect time to buy some festive nightwear. Even if you don’t usually sleep in pyjamas, it can be useful for this period of the year when you may well be enjoying Christmas morning with friends and relatives and don’t want to be slobbing around in your underwear. You may also want to consider Christmas nightshirts as well as Christmas night robes. Festive slippers are also handy for keeping your feet warm.

Winter work clothing

It’s possible to bring the festive cheer to work too. Men who have to wear suits may be constricted to Christmas ties and cufflinks. Women have a few more options at their disposal. As stated already, there are lots of festive jewellery options that may be suitable for the office. However, there are also smart-casual Christmas-themed dresses that you can wear with these accessories. As with jewellery, experiment with reds, greens and white. Patterns such as tartan are great for this time of year.
