There is something about Makioba’s collections; each one leaves me more excited than the last. There are very few instances where every item in a designer’s collection appeals to me. There are usually a handful that I can actually imagine myself wearing, but Makioba Efflorescence SS17 mid-season collection is an exception, and I’m not even a floral person – not on fabrics at least.

The collection gives a different spin to the floral theme. It’s floral like you probably haven’t seen before. Inspired by the Creative Director’s love for flowers, it is literally a burst of flowers on muted fabric, but is done so tastefully that you will want to wear it even if you are not particularly fond of floral themed clothes.
According to the label, the collection was designed to “show seasonal changes and depict a woman in bloom. The collection brings a fresh take on floral for warmer weather months by sticking with lush muted tones that not only reflect our climate, but also the seemingly increased chaos in the world at large.”
The Efflorescence collection has the most arresting mix of cocktail dresses, jumpsuits and summer dresses. As usual, the Makioba woman is beautiful, gorgeous and abundant! I love how the clothes accentuate the delicious curves of the African woman. The designer obviously gave a lot of thought and detail to each item, and it shows.
Efflorescence SS17 is one collection that makes me so happy. I find myself smiling whenever I see the clothes and can’t wait to sheath my Queen-size body with one of these beauties. Kudos to the designer and her team.
