Folarin Falana popularly known as “Falz” or “Falzthebahdguy” is making waves with the release of his new album titled “Moral Instruction”. Now Falz is never one to shy away from airing his thoughts. We thought we had heard the last from him, when it comes to the issues in Nigeria. There was a lot of controversy surrounding his video for “This Is Nigeria”. However, this album did the exact opposite and it left no stone unturned.

Moral Instruction: The Tracks
Each track in the Moral Instruction album, from “Johnny”, “Talk” to the phenomenal ending “After All Said and Done” was phenomenal. The entier album addressed issues most Nigerians shy away from speaking, except in the comfort of their inner circles. To be honest, if I had to rename the album I would simply call it “Truth” or “Real Talk”.
He spoke about child marriage and violence against women and girls. But that’s not all, as he also touched on transactional sex, police violence and politics. Oh and we should not forget cybercrime popularly known to Nigerians as “yahoo yahoo”.
Moral Instruction: Corruption and Church
However, this list would not be complete without mentioning the fact that Falz used his vocals to express his opinion on issues affecting “The Church”. He spoke openly about the the use of church funds by some pastors to further their own personal interest. According to him, “corruption and church should not be used in the same sentence”.
Facing the leadership crisis head-on
He also talked about how we recycle the same leaders and political parties in the country and yet we scream for the lack of change in the country. He also paid tribute to one of Nigeria’s musical legends “Fela Kuti”.
Needless to say, Falz poured his heart out for this album and I am most definitely a fan. At the end I think, the moral of the album was to tell Nigerians that the power of change in the country lies in the hands of each citizen and not just the leaders.
Leaders either political or religious or defense are all appointed by the people, so we need to start making wise choices. We need to stop asking or begging for change without actually going out of our way to make it happen. The album is a true eye opener to all Nigerians and the problems we face as a country.

Every word, poetic justice
Each track and lyric was nothing short of poetic justice, this album was a true body of work or like Nigerians would say “he finish work for the album”. My favorite track of the album would have to be “Hypocrite”, from the subtle beat, the vocals of Demmie Vee on the chorus and lyrics, this track definitely spoke to my soul. What’s your favorite track in the album?
To finish this review I would like to quote from the man himself,
“After all said and done, if we can redefine love and remember the meaning of humanity, maybe then we can restore the sanity. If we remember to react and repeatedly refuse to be content with mediocrity, only then can we be free”.
