2 docked for stealing N1.3m valuables
A 35-year-old unemployed, Sunday Awoyemi, and a businessman, Rokeeb Eniafe, 30, were, yesterday, docked before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates Court on Lagos Island for allegedly stealing a bag containing valuables worth N1.3million.
The prosecutor, ASP Chidi Okoye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at 9.30p.m on March 11 at Asogbon Street, on Lagos Island in Lagos and that they stole a bag containing recharge cards of various mobile phone networks valued at N1million, cash sum of N300,000 and three mobile phones valued at N50,000 belonging to one Olawepo Olawale.
They are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against them by the police.

Anxiety over 2015 polls: LCCI urges business operators not to panic
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, over the weekend urged business operators not to express any worry over the effect of the elections on the country’s economy.
The Vice President and Chairman of Trade Promotion Board of LCCI, Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole gave the assurance at the unveiling ceremony of the 2015 Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication, ICTEL EXPO, held at the LCCI conference and exhibition centre, Lagos.
He said “Don’t be disturbed by the upcoming elections, it will come and go. And the country will remain one. We have experienced worse things than this and the country remained united. We need to have faith in this country.”
He also urged business operators to continue with their daily activities, saying that they will not experience any electoral violence before, during and after the elections.

Police arrest ex-banker, undergraduates for kidnapping, robbery
32 years old Edet Ekuno, who is also an ex-banker, and seven others are currently in the police net for alleged kidnapping, robbery and illegal dealing in arms.
Ekuno, it was learnt, worked with one Hope Okon, an ND 2 Computer Engineering student at a polytechnic in Akwa Ibom; Sunday Samiga, Unagbon Isaiah and other suspects at large, to kidnap unsuspecting well-to-do residents around Lagos and Akwa Ibom states.
The suspects arrested by a team of police men, lead by the officer in charge of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad, ASP Abba Kyari about 2am on March 7 at D2 Hotel in the Ojodu-Berger area, where they were reportedly perfecting plans to kidnap a businessman in Magodo Estate.
