Police parade suspected kidnappers of woman preacher

Two suspected kidnappers were paraded by the Abia State Police Command on Thursday for  allegedly abducting one Gold Njoku.

The suspects are a 43 year old Sunday Onyekwere, who is a native of Umuokahia Obingwa, and a 40 year Samuel Ahuchaogu who is a native of Umuogele Umuocham in Osisioma area of the state.

They allegedly abducted the victim at Okpula Ngwa in Obingwa while he was preaching the gospel of Christ.

Joshak Habila, the Commissioner of Police,  said the victim, aged 55, was also rescued unhurt in a bush at Umuike village, Osisioma while a Mercedes Benz 230 car, with registration number DU 240 AAA, was also recovered.

NUPENG blames fuel scarcity on sabotage by marketers, depot owners

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, yesterday in Lagos, blamed the current fuel scarcity across the country on alleged sabotage by fuel marketers and depot owners.

The NUPENG President, Comrade Igwe Achese, called on the government to call the marketers to order.

He also said, the marketers were in alliance with private depot owners to allegedly hoard product because government was owing them.

Experimental Ebola vaccine effective in monkeys

According to a study which was published on Thursday, an experimental Ebola vaccine has been shown to effectively protect monkeys against the often-deadly virus.

The new medicine, described in the journal Science, is what is known as a “whole virus” vaccine.

“The new vaccine differs from other Ebola vaccines,” a statement from the University of Wisconsin-Madison read. The vaccine was constructed on an experimental platform that lets researchers safely work with the virus by deleting a key gene the Ebola virus needs to make a protein required to reproduce. The Ebola virus has only eight genes.
