Wondering what to do with your evenings now that spring is here? Here are some really good suggestions that will get you having fun in no time.
Spring is here, which means that the days of cowering on our couches away from the horrible snowy or cold weather outside are resolutely over. It may still be a little rainy but the evenings are getting lighter and the weather is getting warmer. If you’re looking for some ways to spend your springtime evenings, here are a few ideas…
Eat Outside
One of the best days of the year is the first time it’s warm enough for you to eat outside. Admittedly, it might not be quite warm enough where you live yet, but the weather’s steadily improving which means that that day will arrive sooner rather than later. Get out your grill to make burgers outside, or go for a halloumi or Portobello mushroom burger if you’re a vegetarian. Make sure that there’s a comfortable space inside for you to go and eat if you need to – remember that the weather can still be a little unpredictable this time of year.
Have A Date Night In
If you have kids then you’re probably already completely aware of how difficult it can be to get an evening to yourself to go out with your partner. Babysitters are expensive and if you don’t have family living close to you, it can be hard to find someone that you trust enough to look after your kids for a night. Get around that by having a date night at home – eat outside with your partner with some fresh flowers on the table between you, and go for some spring-like favourite, like chicken wings, sweet potato fries and a selection of salads, before moving inside to watch a favourite movie. From here you can check out how to stream movies and TV shows so that you don’t have to add to your already enormous DVD collection.
Try Out A Rooftop Bar
If you’re lucky enough to get a night out with your friends, then go for a rooftop bar. There’s nothing else that feels quite as fun or celebratory when spring has finally sprung, even though it might get a little chilly if you aren’t seated close to a patio heater (and yes, they’re bad for the environment, but you probably won’t be thinking about that after a couple of cocktails!). Rooftop bars are incredible because you’ll get to see the whole area where you live, the city spread out beneath you like a blanket of stars – you’ll regain a whole new love for the area where you live so that you can explore it all through the summer.
Go Walking
Finally, now the evenings are lighter and the weather is milder you can start walking again. It’s a great way to get fit and alleviate any back pain that you might have if you have to sit at a desk all day at work. Still, walking alone at night can sometimes feel unsafe so it’s important for you to make the most of the lighter evenings – put on your walking shoes when you get home from work and set out immediately for an hour or so before coming home for a well earned dinner.
