Travelling to the tropical city of Port Harcourt, it’s easy to wonder just what one can do in the city. If you are wondering or you live in the city and have been unable to connect with people who share your passion for life, then you should come to the Port Harcourt Leisure Park on Sunday, June 11, 2017 for Steady Run.

Steady Run Port Harcourt

What is Steady Run?

Steady Run is a community of people who are passionate about life and health. We first heard about this community a couple of months ago. It was amazing to discover that right in the heart of the Garden City, were people who turned up in their numbers every Sunday to keep fit.

Started by Steady Idisi, a returnee who lost his father to cancer, Stready Run uses the hashtag #Teamnoexcuse to show its belief that everyone can live a fit and healthy lifestyle.

And if you attend one of the Steady Run outings, you will discover that no one is excluded; from the old to the very young, male, female, large and small…literally anyone who wishes to dedicate a couple of hours every week to keeping fit can be a part of the community.

There is no doubt that those who participate in the exercises are experiencing changes in their lives. As one Steady Runner put it, “I started running with this group last year when we were only three people. I couldn’t run for more than 10mins without gasping for breathe or stopping to walk because of my chest( yes I have a lil chest issues) but I kept on pushing. When am out of breadth I do the fast walk and hope to be better the next day. Unknown to me gradually my stamina increased and my lungs expanded to take in so much. I am so stoked(happy) that I made 5km today without stopping.. After more than 6months of being introduced to Steady Run…“.

It is hard work, but they make it fun and sometimes throw in something extra by bringing in a few celebrities to walk/run along with the community. Just last month, the Big Brother Naija housemates were in Port Harcourt for a 5KM walk organized by Steady Run. It has also featured Olympic Gold Medalist, Mary Onyali.

Thus far, the fitness exercises have taken place in different locations around the city, most notably the Odili Road – Woji bridge and Old GRA around SPAR. But this week, the community is doing something different.

Steady Run is coming to the Port Harcourt Leisure Park!

This is exciting because the leisure park only just opened (literally a few weeks ago). It is a sprawling expanse of space, perfect for the fitness exercises planned for that day.
