Trying to find what to wear on a daily basis can be difficult. So when you throw in a bit of a curveball of what you need to dress for, it can get so much harder. And that’s exactly what it can feel like when the vacation you’re planning isn’t quite what you’re used to (or what your wardrobe is used to for that matter). But when you’ve planned in a family trip that promises to be an active one, you have to ensure that you can be ready. And not only does that mean you have to raid your wardrobe for the right things to wear, but you should also be thinking about the other essentials you need to take on the vacation with you too.

Layers

First of all, you’re going to want to think about working with some layers. Because it’s safe to say that most active vacations, like hikes, are going to involve being outdoors an awful lot. Whether your usual style involves a lot of layers or not, you’re going to want to think about getting yourself wrapped up. From long sleeve tops (preferably thermal) and leggings to jumpers and coats, you need to dig them all out and pack them up to take with you. And they have to be practical too – so think activewear, not eveningwear!

Sensible Footwear

From here, you’re then going to want to get your footwear solutions figured out. Of course, you’re going to want to pack a pair of hiking boots if you are heading out into the great outdoors, or a buy a pair if you don’t have them. You should also consider women’s slip ons and tennis shoes too – both are great options and entirely sensible for wearing outdoors. However, if you do buy new, just be sure to break them in a bit before you head out – just to save your feet from the pain while on vacation itself.

Backpack

Now, it’s onto the accessories. While you may be used to carrying a purse with you at all times, you’re going to want to switch your usual kind of the backpack variety. Cos clutches can’t cut it in the wilderness! But a backpack? Now with one of these babies, you’ll fit right in and have everything you need too.

Snacks

Next up, it’s time to nail the snacks. Because you are going to get hungry – especially if you have little ones in tow. But, you need to think practically and pick out food for hiking. From trail mix to granola to energy bars, you do have a range of options that can work here. And be sure to go for something that will keep you fueled on your hike too.

Hygiene Wipes

Finally, the last little thing that you might want to consider packing up for your vacation is some beauty bits – namely for hygiene. Because hygiene wipes will come in handy here. You may want a hand sanitizing wash and some refreshing face spray too. All three will be extremely useful to you while out in the wilderness.
