Sadly, watching all the Youtube makeup videos available and following makeup pages on Instagram doesn’t make us beauty experts. Every now and then, we still have to look to the beauty pros for guidance. Makeup Artist and Blogger IamDodos has a lot to say about what you should and shouldn’t do when it comes to makeup.

IamDodos usually plays it simple beutywise (and isn’t that the best way really)? Her eyebrows look natural, her blush isn’t screaming at you, her makeup is perfectly blended so it’s not surprising that she has a problem or two with “Instagram brows”.

In a moderatley entertaining Youtube video, she lists out her biggest makeup don’ts or as she calls it, her “peeves”

Don’t

Do boxy eyebrows

A.k.a Instagram brows. According to her, eyebrows that are too close to each other is a big no.

Use foundation shades lighter than your skin

This tends to make your face lighter than the visible part of your body – which doesn’t make a great look.

Over Strobe

Since the strobing trend came along, a few ladies have been going overboard with it says Dodos. Use highlighter in moderation.

Use heavy lashes

This makeup habit is a little unnerving – the heavy lashes always remind me of horse mane or a broom. Go light or go home.

Do

Line your lips

According to the beauty blogger, you should never wear lipstick without lining your lips as we Africans tend to have fuller lips.
