5 Reasons Why You Need to Pray for Your Husband

If you are participating in the Naija Housewives’ 30 Days Prayers for Your Husband, there are probably times when you will wonder just why you are praying. This is particularly true if you have a husband you feel is uncaring and unworthy of your love and prayers. And no one will blame you if you do decide not to pray. The fact is that there are some men that make it so hard to have an intimate relationship with God because you are so filled with anger and bitterness.

Then again, if you do decide not to pray you are doing a grave injustice to yourself and this is why:

1. When you pray you get peace of mind.

There is just something about prayer and meditation that helps calm your nerves and reduce tension in your body. You become calmer and in a better place to make decisions. When you pray for your husband, you will find that it is not so easy for him to push your buttons any longer. Things that used to hurt you and make you so angry just won’t seem to matter so much any longer.

2. You experience personal healing

So many of us are carrying wounds deep in our hearts where no one can see. Husbands have the ability to hurt their wives in ways nobody else can. If you are tired of limping along emotionally and carrying hurts that make you cry at night, then praying for him (and for yourself) is the best way to go. It will help you to heal.

3. You learn to forgive

Forgiveness is essential if you want to have a good quality of life. Bitterness eats you from inside and the worst part is that often times, the person you are angry with is not even aware. Prayer helps you to let go. You not only learn to forgive your man, you also learn to forgive yourself.

4. You experience clarity

We go through each day with our emotions all over the place and our thoughts muddled. A husband says one nasty thing and the entire day is ruined. It becomes almost impossible to function normally. This  should not be so. Prayer helps you to see the heart of the matter…to look past what the man is saying or how he is acting to WHY he is acting that way. Words and actions do not seem so personal any more.

5. You learn to love him right.

Loving someone does not mean being immune to their faults or unaware of their bad spots. It does not mean being blind to their flaws either. It just means that you are better equipped to help. When you pray for your husband, you will learn how to love him – not in an emotional, mushy way, but with knowledge and understanding.

When you pray, you get to see yourself clearer also and discover how to be a better wife to your man.
