The Afrostreet Fashion Festival: One Of Nigeria’s Leading Afro-Centric Fashion, Arts And Cultural Festival Is Back In The City Of Port Harcourt, Set To Hold December 7, 2019

Over 15,000 people are expected to gather at this year’s edition of Afrostreet Fashion Festival on December 7, 2019, in the city of Port Harcourt. Last year, it was a time that saw creativity in motion and left a lot of people in awe with an experience they would like to relive, time after time.
It had thousands of participants across the country with cultural delegates across the world. The event saw raw arts with afro-centric fusions of fashion, arts, and creativity with entertainment. It also included African focused performances in the area of music, dance and acrobatics.

The AFRO STREET FASHION FESTIVAL is an initiative of “The Creative Hub Port Harcourt”, set up to celebrate and showcase the art, culture and creative talents within the Nigerian Creative Industry and also express the rich diverse culture of the Rivers People.
Rivers State is no doubt a hub for arts, culture, entertainment, lifestyle, and quickly emerging as the creative epicenter and model for economic development of the Niger Delta creative industry.

With over 50 participating vendors who exhibited in 2018, making for a huge aggregated returns on direct and real-time transactions coupled with the level of engagements and connections that became profitable to creatives, brands and participants; it was obvious how significant arts, cultural events, and the entertainment sector would contribute to economic growth in the Niger Delta region given needed attention to scale in terms of impact.

With a display of array of Afro themed street wears on the runway produced by various top designers from in and out of the Niger Delta region; House of Bo, Zhalima Grazioni, House of Linen, Soso Apparels and a host of others were headliners.
The Afrostreet Festival also features live art painting on canvas, face painting or body art, Graffiti art, real-time contests, motorcycle stunt, raffle draws and a scintillating line up of various products and services exhibited by a host of vendor
According to Ibinabo Amakiri, founder of THE CREATIVE HUB and Convener of the Festival:
“We have undertaken this journey as a way to give back to our immediate surrounding from the Hub. Now we have started, and we intend to convene every year and about this time with series of pre-festival events leading to the main day. So you have to come this year, and keep coming.”

This year’s edition began with a Model casting in September, the African Soiree, with other pre-event activities like the Art Competition, Fashion Focused Talk, Street and Campus Tours, Open Mic/African Dance Showcase, Media Tour, Fashion Mob and the Grand Festival is officially scheduled for 7th of December, 2019 on No. 45 EVO Road, GRA – Port Harcourt.
