Do you look in your wardrobe and find that you have a lot of the same styles or color of clothing in there? There is a lot of science that been has looked into that shows what our clothing choices say about us. It can say a lot about us as an individual, as well as about our personality rather than just our preferences. So if you do tend to gravitate towards a certain look despite changing fashion trends, then this could be for you. Here are some of the most common clothing trends or styles and what they could be saying about you. Does any of it ring true for you?
Clothes Hoarder
If you have a wardrobe packed full of clothing, simply because you never want to throw anything out, then it can say a lot about you. You could be quite romantic in nature as you could see many of the clothes having a sentimental value to you. But if you do want to have a clear out, then choose the items that you haven’t worn in the last year. If you haven’t, then the chances are that you won’t wear them again anytime soon, and certainly won’t miss them when they’re gone.
Neutral Colors
Do you look in your wardrobe and see a whole bunch of neutral colors? If you have a lot of black, white, and cream in there, then psychologically it could be saying that you’re in a bit of a rut. You might be feeling comfortable in those colors and not want to get out of your comfort zone with any other clothing. Neutrals are pretty comfortable and you know that they will pretty much go with anything. But it can be good to shake things up a bit. Why not add some pastel shades in there, like baby blue or pink, as well as some more earthy tones like olive and brown to your clothing choices. You don’t have to go too bold with color, but having a few more choices could be the refresh that you need.
Black Clothing
All black everything is totally a thing. But when it is all the time, it can all get a little bit too much. I get it, it is a comfortable and pretty flattering color to wear. It goes with lots of other colors, so it gives you a good base. It allows you to be bolder with accessories, for instance. It could be that you want to blend into the background when you wear a lot of darker colors. But black does also show a sophistication, strength, and elegance. So having a few black pieces in your wardrobe can be good for the right occasion.
Oversized Clothing
If you choose clothing that is too big for you on purpose, then it could show that you are uncomfortable with what your body looks like. Having clothes that cling will be the last thing on the mind of someone that isn’t happy with how they look. So if you think this might be you, and that you see yourself differently than how others see you, then it could be time to make some changes. Talk to friends about how your clothing looks. You could choose a baggy sweater and leggings, rather than a baggy sweater and baggy jeans, for instance.
Fur Clothing
If you have any fur clothing in your wardrobe, then the chances are that you like the finer things in life, and have a bit of a vintage hue to your style. But nowadays, this can be a very controversial topic. Instead, faux-fur could be a more desirable option to get clothing that is more ethical and sustainable. There are plenty of sites online where you can read more about ethical clothing and shop for sustainable goods. You can still get a vintage and luxury look.
Red Clothing
Red clothing is when someone wants to make a bold statement. So if you have a lot of red clothing, then you might be trying to show that you are bold, passionate, and confident. It can also represent aggression, so think carefully about when you choose to wear it. An important meeting at work? A red dress might be just what you need…
Orange and Yellow
If you have bright clothing in orange and yellow tones, then it generally shows that you are a happy and cheerful person, who isn’t afraid of being center stage. They are pretty stand out colors, so they wouldn’t be the colors chosen from someone who wants to blend in.
Blue and Green Clothes
Blue and green clothing choices are generally considered to be worn by those with a calming influence. Both green and blue shades are calming and soothing in interior design, as well as in clothing. If you wear blue a lot, then it could be because you are pretty peaceful and loyal, with a positive and calming influence. If green is your colour of choice, then it could be because your are a healing force to around, as you are calm, generous and care about others.
Designer Logos All Over
If you wear clothing that is full of designer labels, then it could be because you feel a little insecure and want to show to others your power or status. When designer brands are more subtle, then it is less likely to be that. But if you have visible logos from head to toe, then it might be a good idea to think about why. You could start with a blank canvas and then add in your designer pieces as and when.
Pink!
If you have a lot of link in your wardrobe, then you are likely to love all things pink, pretty, and feminine. Like green and blue, it is a soothing colour, worn by those wanting to look peaceful. So even if you haven’t thought about it before, this could be the vibe that you’re giving off.
Do you agree with these statements about the clothing that you wear? It would be interesting to hear what you think.
