The World Bank Institute is offering a free course on Gender Equality and Development.  The details are below:

Course: Gender Equality and Development – Women’s Economic Empowerment Module

 

Target Audience

This Module targets multiple stakeholders, including policy makers, practitioners, and civil society organizations’ staff who have successfully completed the Overview Module and have a special interest in a more in-depth look at women’s economic empowerment. 

 

The four topics covered in the course are:

  • The importance of women’s economic empowerment for gender equality and development
  • Gender gaps in earnings and productivity
  • Policies to improve economic opportunities for women
  • Impacts and opportunities in the growth of global trade and economic integration

 

It’s an online course so you can take it from anywhere. You will be awarded a certificate once you’re done and although it’s not an academic certificate, it is proof that you have knowledge of the subject matter and will look good on your CV.

Gender equality and development is a hot issue right now and international organizations seem to be looking for professionals in this area. A few issues that have brought it to the front burner include Malala Yousefazai, the Chibok girls, and the rape of women in India, just to mention a few. So if you are passionate about gender equality and development, this is a good fit for you.
