Set in London, UK, Housewives & Girlfriends TV Series consists of 30 minute-long episodes. It is an intensely entertaining drama with comical undertones which is created and produced by Rhoda Wilson and directed by Nelson Spyk. Rhoda’s inspiration for creating “Housewives & Girlfriends” stems from her desire to profile members of the African Diaspora in a positive and exciting light in the UK. “I believe I can make a difference because there is a need in the market and I have incredible passion and I am committed to making this happen.” – Rhoda Wilson. As a member of Women in Film & TV (UK), Rhoda is paving the way for women in TV production to be leaders in the media.
The drama uncovers the tangled web woven by the controversial life choices made by the main protagonists influenced by money, culture, ambition, love, passion and jealousy.
Heralded as one of the most expensive TV series filmed in the UK by Nollywood UK, Season 1’s credit roll was 62 staff members, which consisted of 53 cast and 9 crew members and included many of the most influential members of the Nollywood Diaspora based in the UK. It is also the first TV series made by Nollywood UK that was acquired international broadcaster; African Magic (M-NET/DSTV).
Whilst Season 1 was filmed in locations across the United Kingdom including London, Southampton, Portsmouth and Isle of Wight, Season 2 locations will take the audience through the hustle and bustle of city life combined with an element of tranquility in rural areas. Season 1 series is currently on air every Friday during prime time on Africa Magic Urban Channel 153. Africa Magic Urban Channel typical audience are between the ages of 20 – 60 years making up approximately 35% of Nigeria population.
On the 30th of October Housewives & Girlfriends TV series took the top spot in the Nigerian Trends, the online monitoring profile which highlights what Nigerians’ are discussing across all social media platforms. On the 11th of December 2015, Housewives & Girlfriends TV Series once again was in the top ten trending topics.
With Housewives & Girlfriends, Rhoda and Nelson have created something truly unique and entertaining, shining aspotlight on the African Diaspora experience.

About the Creator & Producer:
Rhoda Wilson is a multi-award winner and has been in the television industry for eleven years. She has established contacts in the media industry relevant to her key markets from MIPTV, Cannes to AFRICAST, Abuja Nigeria. She has extensive experience in all areas of production from pre-development to post production.
In December 2015, Rhoda Wilson was presented with an Honorary Outstanding Award by Enterprise Minds Award for her contribution to the UK Film Industry. Rhoda Wilson is now a member of Women in Film & TV (UK).
About the Director:
Nelson Spyk is one of Nollywood UK top director with over 15 years knowledge across all stages of production from pre-development, production (including set building) to post-production.
He is the CEO of Nelson Spyk Productions and in 2013 won the BEFFTA Best Cinematographer Award for Shameful Deceit and recently in 2015 Won BEFFTA for Best Cinematographer Award for Murderer-in-Law and ZAAFA Awards for Best Director for Murderer-in-Law.
