The first Naija Housewives’ Hangout took place in Port Harcourt o the 17th of May, 2014. We met at the Uhuru restaurant at the Genesis Center in Port Harcourt GRA. We were 4 of us and we had so much fun getting to know each other. The photos are below.

Although we talked about a lot of things, what we mostly focused on was the need for women to pursue their dreams. This came out strongly as we talked and we came to the conclusion that:

  • A woman should not neglect her family in the pursuit of her dreams.
  • A woman should not neglect her dreams because of her family or she will come to resent that same family.
  • It is possible to pursue your dreams and keep a stable home. You might not go after those dreams 100%, but you can do a little at a time towards achieving them.
  • It is important for women to be financially independent as that ‘little’ they bring in can go a long way and make a great difference.

One of the women present shared with us the 3 year Rule in business. We all found this really profound. Applying this rule is a test of determination and courage. Basically it is giving whatever you are doing 3 years before giving up. And after 3 years, if you have not registered success, but you have registered considerable progress, then keep at it.

The lovely cake below was made by one of the women who attended. It is a chocolate cheese cake that was every bit as delicious as it tasted.

Lagos Hangout

The next Hangout is in Lagos. We are excited to meet with the NH family in Lagos and are looking forward to trading hugs with the names we read on the blog and the Facebook page.
