Asisat in a interview said, “Since I began my football career I have always dreamt of being a professional footballer so to be able to join the reigning Women’s Super League champions is absolutely fantastic. Liverpool Ladies are a massive Club who have some fantastic players who I believe can help to develop my game to the next level.”

I wanted to kill myself because I was broke –Halima Abubakar

Halima Abubakar, the Nollywood actress reveals how she almost committed suicide because she was broke at that time and was suffering from depression.

She said “There were many charity projects I was involved in and I was doing everything with my money. Everything just got to me at the same time and I felt fed-up. I wanted to kill myself because there was nobody to help me. It happened two years ago and it also occurred last year. I thank God I did not kill myself because I realized that nothing is worth it. I was upset with myself when I got back to my senses because the people you want to kill yourself for do not really care about you. It was a terrible phase in my life”.

She was not only broke financially but also emotionally. She’s grateful to those who stood by her during this period.

FG Will Prosecute those Using Children as Suicide Bombers, Says Adoke

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Mohammed Adoke, SAN, has said that the Federal Government would prosecute members of Boko Haram for using female children as suicide bombers.

He condemned the use of girls as suicide bombers and reminded perpetrators that the practice amounted to breaches of international and domestic laws that guaranteed the rights of children during periods of hostilities and armed conflicts.

He said:”I therefore consider it my duty to issue this advisory primarily to put all terrorist elements on notice that the current hostilities in the north east region will not compromise the resolve of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to enforce all domestic laws and international conventions to which we are party”.

The minister said Nigeria as a signatory to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal court, the nation was under obligation to abide by and enforce, the provisions of Article 8(2)(b)which made it a war crime to conscript children under the age of 15 years into the national armed forces or using them to participate actively in hostilities.

He also called on the military high command to ensure that “its responsibility to avoid the use or abuse of children and young persons in the current campaign was imbibed by its commanders and personnel at all levels of engagement.”

Nigerian Parents left their Twins in the US and Traveled to Nigeria

Nigerian parents  Jerusalem and Gladys Monday, have lost custody of their 9 yr old twins after they left them mostly to themselves in their New Hampshire apartment for four months and traveled to Nigeria. They left their twins in the care of an uncle Atura, who hardly visited the kids.

Jerusalem Monday and his wife and three of their kids left the US for Nigeria in July, intending to return in August. They told police they were delayed by illness and passport problems.

The case came to light in November when officials at the boys’ school told the state Division of Children, Youth and Families that the twins had been living on their own for months. The boys were taken into protective custody and then placed into foster care.

In an interview with police, one of the boys said “he felt lonely while staying at their own house because his mom and dad were not there and nobody was with them“.

When police finally reached the parents, they said they had instructed Atura to stay at the apartment, and if he couldn’t, they gave him the name of a family friend to contact. The parents said they stayed in phone contact with Atura, who assured them everything was fine.
