Your living room is where you receive guests and it’s also where your family spends a lot of time. Making it nice and comfortable is important but most people balk at that because they don’t want to spend lots of money. But simple touches and additions can make a lot of difference to the overall look and ambiance of the room and lamps can do that.

Lamps are decorative lighting and their primary purpose is not to provide the main light, but to serve as a design element. There are different sorts of lamps and each one adds something different to the room. You could use table lamps or standing lamps or even wall lamps and there are so many ways you can use them. So here are 4 ways to use lamps in your living room.

1. Table Lamps

Table lamps are a great way of adding style and creativity to your interior decor. They draw attention to the part of the room where they are and give a great accent to that area.

2. Floor Lamps

Floor lamps are great where you have an empty corner or a bare area and they are lovely for making your sitting room look cozy and intimate. Floor lamps can act as your primary lighting because they provide the full spectrum of light although most modern lamps come with adjustable lighting. They’re the perfect way to keep your home inviting.

3. Wall Lamps

Wall lamps come in different styles and varieties. You can either go for wall recesses or wall sconces, depending on the mood you’re trying to achieve. Wall lamps make a room look serene and soft. Wall sconces are usually attached to the wall for support. The light it gives can either be directed upward or downward, but it is usually muted and subtle, definitely not for reading. However, the light it casts will flatter your living room and your visitors as well.

You can get quality lamps at good prices and you don’t need more than one or two to change the way your living room looks. Decorating does not have to break your bank account.
