8 Home Remedies for Dark Underarms

Dark underarms are dark coloration of skin in the underarm region compared to the rest of the body. It is usually caused due to excessive shaving, accumulation of dead cells, perspiration, use of deodorants with alcohol etc. Many of us just carry dark underarms because we think that there’s nothing we can do about it. Well, there is and we are about to share some home remedies with you. These don’t cost a lot and you can find most in your kitchen or at any Nigerian market.
Lemon:
Rub a piece of lemon on the underarms after a shower and leave to dry on its own. Lemon is good cure for many skin-related medical conditions.
Yogurt:
Apply 2 tablespoons of yoghurt on each armpit, leave for about 15 to 20 minutes before cleaning it off, yogurt contains fatty acids and vitamins which help minimize dark patterns.
Rice Flour & Vinegar:
Mix two tablespoons of rice flour with vinegar and apply on the dark underarms, leave for about 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Honey and Lemon:
Mix lemon juice and honey not more than a tablespoon each and apply on the underarms, leave it for 20 minutes then rinse it off with warm water.
Cucumber and Turmeric:
Extract a little quantity of juice from cucumber and mix it with turmeric, apply this mixture on the underarm.
Potatoes:
Apply potato juice on the underarms; leave the juice for 20 minutes, then rinse with water.
Coconut oil:
Coconut oil is a good home remedy for underarm darkening; it brightens the dark coloration on the underarms very fast.
Talcum Powder:
Talcum powder absorbs moisture and helps in keeping the underarm skin dry, thereby preventing the growth of bacteria and keeping the skin from darkening.
Repeat these procedures over a period of time, and you will see changes. Deodorants and antiperspirants that contain alcohol should be avoided because they make the underarms dark.
