When you have to cope with a home, children and maybe a career, it becomes harder to live life on purpose. We tend to just go through the motion, struggling to get everything done for the day. How do you live your life intentionally, being cognizant of all you do at such a time? Here are some tips:

Have a Plan: Don’t just go through the day routinely without a plan. Sure you need to have a routine such as when to eat meals and when to observe nap time or bed time. But it is always important to plan out your day or week in advance so that you have a good idea of what you need to do or achieve for that week.

Make a List: Each night before you go to bed, make a list of what you want to do the next day and tick off each item as it is done. Making a list helps you stay calm and gives you a sense of achievement once you are able to tick off items. It’s like having mini goals for the day.

Know Why You’re Doing What You Do: Be mindful…understand why you are doing a particular task. When you are packing lunch for your children, remind yourself that you are doing this so that your children will not go hungry. When you are up late at night trying to get your home organized, ask yourself why you are doing that. When you have the right motives, it is easier to keep going on and it keeps you conscious of everything you do. From time to time, reflect on your why.

Take a Deep Breath: Sometimes, stop what you’re doing and take a deep breath. Then let it out slowly. This helps you keep calm and centered so that you do not lose your peace.

Being a wife and mother can sometimes be chaos, but when you learn to live your life on purpose; when you realise and accept that where you are is not a mistake, then you get extra strength to go on.
