On Raising a Budding Artist

Raising a budding artist is fun. Almost all children are budding artists. If you still have toddlers, you might have noticed their works of art on your walls. By the time they grow older however, they start being passionate about other things. I have one who is passionate about football and could care less about art. His sister, however, has a gift.
When you have a child who loves to draw, paint, sculpt and generally make stuff, that child needs encouragement. As a mum, I do my best to create an enabling environment for her. That might mean helping her stay organized by creating a space for her art. It could also mean providing art supplies on a regular basis.
Art Supplies and Apps
So, that’s what I do. I try to keep her in art supplies like drawing paper, pencils, crayons, water color and glue, among others. Recently, we thought about going digital and I went online to find the best apps for budding artists.
Not surprisingly, there were quite a number.
My 3 favourites were:
- Artflow
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
I could totally see her getting swept up in technology. Thankfully, these apps are both IOS and Android. So they can be downloaded on your iphone, iPad or Android tab. I love android because of how versatile it is, however there is something about Apple. Seriously.
So, if you think you might want to get an Apple device for your budding artist, there are several iPad deals out there. You can check RAKUTEN for some really cool deals. You don’t need to go buy a state of the art, fully customized, yet to be released device.

By the way, I have not downloaded the apps yet. That’s because after much consultation (with Google), I decided on Artflow. It’s free and you can save your pictures in jPeg or other formats. But I had trouble downloading it to her tablet (it’s not the app’s fault, trust me). Once I resolve that issue, I’ll let you know.
