Get This Delicious Turmeric Rice Recipe

I love turmeric. I’ve made no secret of the fact here. I cook almost every meal with it and even use it on my face. Seriously though, you should check out our other recipes with turmeric, especially the face mask … totally awesome!

Right, as I was saying, there’s something about that rich woodsy quality it gives to food that just resonates with me. And yeah, in case you haven’t guessed, I am a certified foodie. I love to experiment with different ingredients and I love to eat.

If you are tired of the old and tried (and really yummy) jollof rice and you want to experiment with something similar but different, then you are going to love this Turmeric Rice recipe.

Turmeric rice recipe

Hey, you don’t have to think of jollof rice or fried rice all the time. Turmeric rice is now here for you. Turmeric which is peppery, warm and has a somewhat bitter taste gives this meal a distinct yellow color. The sight of this meal is nothing but mouth-watering.

Turmeric Rice
  1. Chop the onions and mince the garlic. Set aside.
  2. Heat the butter in a sauce pan placed over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, paprika, 1½ teaspoons of turmeric, ½ teaspoon of white pepper and sauté for about a minute.
  3. Add the rice (washed) and stir continuously for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the stock, water and salt to taste then allow to simmer for about 12 minutes or until almost cooked.
  5. While the rice is cooking, rinse and drain the peas. Add the peas when the rice is almost cooked and adjust seasoning. Allow to simmer for few minutes or until rice is cooked.
